Plot

Marcos is the second coach of a professional basketball team. After a brawl with the head coach and a car accident, Marcos is fired and forced to complete 90 days of social work, training a team of people with intellectual disabilities. What is, at the start, a torture for Marcos due to the peculiarities of the members of the group,  gradually becomes an opportunity for learning, both for Marcos and for the team, which will transform their lives.

Campeones will be freely accessible for 48 hours, starting at 3pm in Thailand, 4pm in the Philippines and Malaysia, and 6pm in Australia, on 2 October, 2021.

Extra screening: On 10 October (Sunday), Campeones will be freely accessible for twelve hours, from 11am (Thailand), 12nn (Philippines & Malaysia), and 3pm (Australia).

Javier Fesser

Javier Fesser studied Image Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid while making his first films, using his super 8 camera. With his production company, Línea Films, he worked in the field of advertising for companies such as Telefónica and BMW, among others. His first try at fiction was with his short film Aquel ritmillo (1995), which caused a remarkable impact, and which was followed successfully the following year with El secdleto de la tlompeta, both deserving of the Goya awards. With the backing of his own production company, Pendelton Movies, Fesser made his feature debut with El milagro de P. Tinto (1998), which catapulted him into being one of the highest-grossing directors in Spanish cinema. Year after year, his popularity continued to grow thanks to La gran aventura de Mortadelo y Filemón (2002) Camino (2008), winner of six Goya awards, including for best film and best director, Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el cachondo (2014), his first attempt at animation, and Campeones. In 2004 he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film for Binta y la gran idea (2004), which was part of the film collection En el mundo a cada rato. His last film is Historias lamentables (2020).
